Psalm 23:1-6

1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He

leads me beside the still waters. 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness

for His name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no

evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before

me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. 6 Surely

goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the

LORD forever. (NKJV)

Philippians 4:6-13

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with

thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all

understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers and

sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is

lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice.

And the God of peace will be with you. 10 I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed

your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. 11 I am

not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the

circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have

learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well-fed or hungry,

whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

 Character of Peace

1. Inner Calm

11 …I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.

2. Sense of Protection

7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and

your minds in Christ Jesus

The peace of God is not the absence of something, but the presence of someone

 Disciplines of Peace


1. Discipline of thinking

8 …whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,

whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

mud. 21 “There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.”

2 Corinthians 5:21

righteousness of God.
