Christmas Is . . . Week 3

Dec 22, 2024    Les Harvey

Isaiah 9:6–7 (NIV)

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

Confidence in His Kingdom

Psalm 97:2 (NIV)

“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.”

Matthew 28:18 (NIV)

“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.’”

✔️God’s throne is unshakable, so our confidence is immovable.

The Gift of His Peace

John 14:27 (NIV)

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Peace - Shalom - completeness, wholeness, harmony, and well-being.

His peace is not worldly—it’s eternal and transformational.

Our Response to His Peace

1. Pray for Peace

✔️Peace begins when we invite God into the conversation.

21 Days of Prayer and Fasting

Dates: Sunday, January 5 - January 25

2. Proclaim Peace

Isaiah 52:7 (NIV)

“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!’”

✔️Share the peace of Christ by proclaiming the Gospel and declaring God’s reign.

3. Live as a Person of Peace

If righteousness and justice are the foundations of His Kingdom, then you are at peace with God and can be at peace with others.

Romans 12:18-19 (NIV) “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ says the Lord.”

✔️If peace is in your heart, it can be in your relationships.

Isaiah 53:5 (NIV) “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
